HARROWSTUDENTSUPPORT SERVICES

For students who are experiencing difficulties with their learning, the Learning Support department works with class teachers to provide support by carrying out assessments and providing strategies to use in the classroom. Needs may be met with differentiated activities or additional resources to target key areas. A key feature is working in partnership with students, parents and class teachers with shared targets. Staff involved work as a team to discuss student needs and plan the support required.

If a student has been referred to Learning Support, it may be necessary for an Individual Education Programme (IEP) to be created and specific targets set to focus in on the area of need for the student and to carefully monitor the student’s progress. This is shared with student and parents and reviewed on a regular basis. Our aim is to have short to medium term involvement and when appropriate progress has been noted, students will be removed from the learning support register. If required we may refer to outside specialist providers such as an occupational therapist or an educational psychologist.
