“What is Drama but life with the dull bits cut out” Alfred Hitchcock
Drama is celebrated across the whole school, from early years to A’level, all students have the opportunity to participate both on the stage and behind the scenes.
A whole range of Drama activities are offered to our students, running at lunchtimes, after school, weekend rehearsals and evening theatre trips as well opportunities to perform at other schools and venues around and beyond Bangkok. Involvement in examinations, productions, competitions, assemblies, performing at other venues all contribute to the development of the individual student and helps them to build the confidence needed for them to become informed and intelligent citizens in any country.
Over the years the standard and range of Drama Productions has significantly improved, with the students just getting better and better and here is a quick re-cap of some of last years main events.
Last year the senior production of Our Day Out really reflected the great spirit and commitment we love about our students. Despite the many problems that you will have read about in the Harowvian surrounding this production, I was so very proud of all the students, who worked tirelessly to ensure that Our Day Out was the best that it could be, they never complained despite my director s bark appearing once or twice! The Thursday performance in particular was an excellent piece of theatre, one of which we can all be proud of and a great example of the acting talents of our students. Around the World was performed by the Prep School drama club and highlighted the capabilities of all students and the new part of our ever growing School! Arabian Nights performed by Years 6-9 proved to be a delightful tale involving magical and amusing stories. The set, costumes and music helped to create a colourful piece of theatre that again demonstrated the talent that is running through our school, many of these students have already been cast in lead roles in this years School Musical. The Junior School produced a fantastic film called “Madness, Mayhem and Monkees” written by Kirsty Salmon and Melanie Crase. The film was so successful that it was screened first of all at the cinema at the Avenue and then later entered into an International Film Competition. The work that the Junior School team put into the producing of the film was incredible and wholly deserving of the praise that it received. The Shakespeare Festival last year was such a success for our pupils that we are now joint hosting it with NIST in February ad you can read more details about last years event on the link at the bottom of the page.
