Visit Harrow on Mondays to Thursdays from 3.00 – 4.00 p.m. and you will see a hive of activity. Years 1 to 13 will be taking part in our extensive extra-curricular activity programme. We believe that such activities enhance the curriculum by both supporting and complementing it . The children have fun, and learn skills they can use forever.
Every child in Years 1 and 2 has to choose at least one activity and everyone else has to choose at least two. Most children, however, wish to be involved every evening and many choose a different activity each night !
This year over 90 different activities have been offered by teachers, teaching assistants, parents and outside professionals.
Activities in the Primary School have ranged from sketching, dance and aerobics, drama workshop, art club, maths puzzles and games, ballet and jazz, bookworm club, swimming, word games, computer, lego, Thai, young choir, scrabble, origami, recorders, circus entertainment, mini rugby and soccer, school newspaper, puzzles, chess and school productions.
In the Secondary School activities have included soccer, jazz and contemporary dance, table tennis, magazine and IT club, pop/rock/jazz band, reading circle, Japanese, free-form painting and drawing, watersports, chess, running, food and drink appreciation, web page design, badminton, rugby, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, digital photography, art club, scrabble, IT club, choir, orchestra and school productions.
Current activities
Outside professionals have provided coaching for golf, tennis, tae kwon do, riding, soccer, scuba diving, ballet and jazz and swimming. School sports teams have been practising, too, but that’s another story !! We’re proud of our activity programme and the additional opportunities it gives to our pupils.
