HARROW STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES Able,Gifted and Talented At Harrow International School we aim to provide a challenging, individualised and broadening curriculum for our most able, gifted and talented pupils. We ensure our lessons promote intellectual curiosity, creative thinking and empower students to reach their full potential. Within the classroom the A, G and T coordinator works alongside class teachers during planning, focussing on how the curriculum can be further enriched, and students with specific strengths, extended. This principle of inclusion ensures our children become independent and interdependent learners and whole class expectations are high. Children with an exceptional cognitive ability benefit both from the rich classroom learning environment and also individualised sessions with the A, G and T coordinator where their specific strengths can be targeted through their individualised education plan. At Harrow, children with sporting, musical and artistic talents have a wide range of experiences including competition, specialist instruction, concerts, chamber groups and workshops. In addition to this we understand the importance of our students having broadening experiences. We value the attendance of live performances and matches, taking part in workshops for children with similar talents, visiting galleries, residential experiences and curriculum related trips. Identification of A, G and T students is made on an analysis of evidence from various sources including test scores, teacher observations and assessments, reading ages and parental nomination. At Harrow we value each child and strive to provide a curriculum which is challenging, rewarding and inclusive.
