After a picture perfect launch (click here to view) we now have the unique opportunity to send e-mails to Old Harrovian Nic Patrick in space. Even whilst Nic was preparing for launch he took the time to send Harrow some unique photos of the Space Shuttle. These images are taken with Nic’s own digital camera and were mailed to his friends (we are friends we are spaceman, how cool is that!?) and family only – a truly unique insight into spaceflight.

Many of our students have taken the chance to write to him at our specially created account (spaceman@harrowschool.ac.th) and have come up with some thought provoking questions such as:

  • Is the Sun a different shade of yellow when he sees it from space and not from Earth?
  • Do people dream more or dream differently in space in zero-gravity?
  • How does it feel when you start floating around?

When Nic returns from space in sixteen days time the Harrow Bangkok flag that he has taken with him on his mission will fly proudly over the School with the names of all our students’ names written on the back – the flag, just like Nic himself, serving as inspiration to us all.
