Dear Harrow Parents,

I hope that the holiday period has provided you all with lots of family time after such a busy end of term. Speech Day now seems like a distant memory as we prepare to welcome you back to School. I am pleased to report that the Campus has been a busy place over the holidays and we’re well prepared for the new school year – our 20th.

Our School is in a great place at the moment. I hope you took note of the extremely strong A Level results we celebrated last week. There are more details to come, but I’m thrilled with the achievement of 61% A* or A grades, given our target was 60% and last year's (previous record) results were 55%. A great set of outcomes for our departed Year 14s.

With the launch of Design Technology, our SR5 ‘Leadership Curriculum' and a new Upper School two weekly timetable, the indications are that a Harrow Bangkok education will continue to assure our students the best possible opportunities, both in their classroom studies and in the development of the leadership attributes they need to be happy and successful in this challenging and needy world.

Work on our facilities upgrade project, HBuild, has continued well. The Kopse now provides a wonderful green heart for our campus – the Kafé will open in September, with a revamped menu and bread freshly baked on Campus. Our Creative and Performing Arts Building will be ‘soft opened’ on Thursday and is looking magnificent. We will all enjoy a major step forward in the experience of our Campus as these new teaching and performance facilities come on line. We believe the building will be fully operational by the end of September.

Additionally, this summer we commenced the final Phase of HBuild, the refurbishment of the ‘Senior School Building’. It will take us a year to give the whole facility a complete upgrade, with modernized classrooms, specialist and ‘break out’ areas and improved administration and reception zones to accommodate five of the seven upper school faculties (other than Creative Arts and Science & PE).

Our grass sports pitches are also looking magnificent.

An important feature of the end of every summer holiday, all our new teachers have safely arrived and have been carefully orientated and inducted. Significantly, this includes Dr Tim Jefferis, our new Second Master, who will have campus wide responsibility for a range of important functions including communication, campus co-ordination, boarding and the organization of the whole school's activities programme. Tim’s settling well.

New parents, welcome again to Harrow Bangkok; we’re a friendly and dynamic community if you choose to get involved. Crucially, we believe you should be closely informed regarding your child’s education, so please prioritize opportunities to meet the teachers and the important presentations that are routinely provided for you on various aspects of your child’s learning journey. In these early days, we are here to help; any concerns or unanswered questions, please contact us. We have an active ‘Friends of Harrow’ parent group, stage a wide range of parent workshops and have some high profile community events planned for our 20th Anniversary year.

I wish all of you a highly successful school year ahead.
