Speech and Language Therapy 

Speech therapy is an additional essential service provided by the Student Support Services. It involves both Speech and Language elements. Speech disorders among our students may include various difficulties in articulation, speech fluency or voice qualities. Language disorders include a wide range of receptive and expressive language components. Language difficulties may involve the student’s understanding of language or the means by which the student uses language expressively.

During the initial assessment, it will be determined what areas require intervention. Is the student having difficulty with his/her production of the /s/ sound or maybe the child’s vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure has not sufficiently developed? The assessment results determine the form and content of the subsequent speech sessions. Both speech and language components are practiced with our students in weekly sessions.
