Located on the most spacious international school campus in Bangkok, with our fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities and dedicated staff, there are numerous opportunities for students to participate in a range of sporting programmes offered by Harrow Bangkok.
Harrow Bangkok provides an extensive Sports Programme in line with the school’s tradition of providing a broad, holistic education. Harrow Bangkok seeks to provide ‘sport for all, whilst striving for excellence’. All students are given ample opportunity to experience a range of sporting activities that they enjoy. We aim to promote achievement, progress and excellence, whilst at the same time fostering the development of self-confidence in every child.
After school each day as part of the extracurricular programme, students have the opportunity to take part in over 50 different sports training activities. A huge breadth of sports are on offer and range from individual activities to the more traditional team sports. Through these activities, students learn the value of being physically active and develop positive personal and social attitudes.
Students can opt to specialise in one of our dedicated sports academies to a highly competitive level or try something new.
Our Sports Academy Programmes are now in their third year. We have five dedicated academies that offer sport year-round to our students in football, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and golf. The academies offer an entry point into the respective sports, but they also ensure top athletes receive focused training. Our highly qualified coaches and state-of-the-art facilities provide the optimum environment to nurture athletic talent.
Harrow Bangkok has over 80 experienced and motivated coaches involved in the coaching and preparation of our sports teams for their participation in competitive events across the year.
Joining a sports team is a great way to make new friends, travel the region and have lots of fun. Students also learn about the importance of teamwork, discipline, how to face a new challenge and learning about themselves as individuals and leaders.
Harrow Bangkok is proud of its ‘Lions’ sports teams who compete both within Bangkok and throughout the region. The school is represented by both boys’ and girls’ teams at U9, U11, U13, U15, Junior Varsity and Varsity level. We have over 140 teams that represent the school over the academic year.
- Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA)
- Bangkok International Schools Athletics Conference (BISAC)
- South East Asia Students Activities Conference (SEASAC)
There are now over 50 British international schools spread across Asia that are part of FOBISIA. This provides the opportunity for all of our U11 and U13 students to compete internationally in swimming, athletics, basketball (U13 only), football and tee-ball (U11 only).
Harrow Bangkok is proud of its standing within the FOBISIA schools. For many students, their participation in these games is the pinnacle of their sporting year.
Also as part of FOBISIA, our students have the opportunity to attend an ever-widening range of FOBISIA Invitational competitions, including climbing, golf, gymnastics, sailing, swimming and tennis. These events enable our students to test themselves against their peers from a range of other schools within the region.
The BISAC competition is based over three seasons and encompasses a full range of sports at U11 through to Varsity level which include volleyball, football, basketball, swimming, athletics, golf, tennis, softball, tee ball, rugby union, touch rugby, water polo, badminton, climbing, sailing and cross-country.
Harrow Bangkok are extremely proud members of SEASAC. Established over 20 years ago, the conference has traditionally included the major powerhouses in the schools sporting circuit in South East Asia. Harrow Bangkok were invited to a number of Invitationals in 2016-17 before being voted in as full members for 2017-18 and beyond.
SEASAC gives our older students excellent competition in a wide range of sports and also the chance to meet new friends from fellow member schools. SEASAC also gives students a pathway to remain in sport for their entire school career and have access to extremely well organised events at a high level of competition in many exciting cities across the region.
SEASAC competitions include volleyball, football, cross country, golf, basketball, tennis, rugby union, rugby touch, swimming, gymnastics, badminton and softball.
Our students have access to superb sporting facilities that allow us to host a wide range of BISAC, FOBISIA and SEASAC competitions.
